Elorm F. Avakame, MD, MPP, FAAP

Physician, professor, author, and speaker on purpose, leadership, and finding meaning in medicine.

I'm a pediatric critical care physician at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and a faculty member at the University of Pennsylvania's Perelman School of Medicine. My academic work focuses on medical education and leadership development among physicians in training. Outside the hospital and classroom, I speak to audiences ranging from high school students to medical grand rounds — and I write about medicine, race, purpose, and what it means to build a life in this profession.
